ARE YOU LOOKING AT YOUR COLLEGE’S PANHELLENIC WEBSITE AND ARE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE TO GET YOUR BID? FEELing BEHIND? FEELing LIKE YOU ARE MISSING INFORMATION?

SAM’S (THE Overlooked POTENTIAL NEW MEMBER) SORORITY RECRUITMENT EXPERIENCE

Sam decides she wants to join a sorority. She looks her college’s Panhellenic website and only finds factual information.

Since the Panhellenic website did not answer her questions, she turns to TikTok, YouTube and Google for advice.

Sam feels behind, like she is missing important information, and like she has a disadvantage.

When she gets her Round 2 schedule, she is disappointed because she was only invited back to 50% of the sororities.

Why does this situation happen to most potential new members?

Many potential new members do two things when prepping for sorority recruitment.

Focus on the material aspects of sorority recruitment — what to wear, makeup, hair, etc.

Ask for advice

When you use advice, it is like asking a friend who is not in your math class, “How do I get an A+ on my test?”

Most likely, your friend says, “You need to study.” This answer leaves you FRUSTRATED. What do you need to study? Do you need to study section 1 or section 2?  Do you need to study the formulas?

If you asked your teacher, “How do I get an A+ on the test?”, she would say,

Go to class

Ask questions

Go over the practice problems

Fill out the study guide (it will be VERY similar to the test)

To get an A+ on your test, you needed to talk to the RIGHT person. You needed to know how to get the A+. You needed the right information and a step-by-step plan.

To get a bid to a sorority you love, you have to communicate that you are the right fit for the sorority. A step-by-step plan tells you how and when to communicate.

why advice does not help you get a bid during sorority recruitment?

It comes from first-year members (they do not understand the behind the scenes of recruitment)

It comes from women who go to different colleges (sorority recruitment is slightly different at each college)

It comes from women who went through sorority recruitment 20+ years ago (sorority recruitment has changed)

Here are the facts

Fact #1. Many members do not know why they received bids.

Was it her outfit? No

Was it the color of her social resume? No

Was it her hair and, or makeup? No

Fact #2. Many members do not understand the behind-the-scenes of sorority recruitment.

Sorority recruitment is not about what you are wearing or the color of your social resume. Sorority recruitment is about communicating that you are a good fit for the sorority.

Fact #3. Sorority recruitment is slightly different at each college.

What is the same is at each college is:

  • You want to prepare correctly for your college (get members and the recruitment teams to know your name).

  • You want to break the Average Conversation Cycle.

  • You want to stand out with your conversations.

  • You want to understand what the members are looking for in a new member and structure your conversation around those topics.

Fact #4. Sorority recruitment has changed.

Sorority recruitment is a values-based recruitment process. This policy changed in 1989 and again in 2019. Sororities use RFM (Release Figure Methodology) to invite potential new members back to each round. RFM started in 2003. The policy has continued to change throughout the years.

How do you get your bid?

You do not need advice. You want to use a step-by-step plan that is based on a proven process.

This process that I am sharing today has gotten women from all over the country bids – like at the University of Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Indiana University, University of Texas, Austin, and more.

your plan to get your bid

The Ultimate Guide to Sorority Recruitment is a tool that USES 6 steps to help you run home to a sorority you love

Step #1. Understand Behind the Scenes of Sorority Recruitment

At Round 1, you meet all of the sororities on your campus. Then, you vote on the sororities. You select the sororities you want to go to for Round 2, and the sororities you do not want to visit. For example, let’s look at Indiana University. You will select 16 sororities you would like to visit for Round 2 and 6 sororities you would rather not visit.

From talking to over one hundred potential new members, most assume they will be invited back to the maximum number of sororities [for this example, 16]. Most are NOT invited back to 16 sororities. Most are invited back to 5 to 12 sororities. To be invited back to a sorority, the sorority INVITES you back.

Why are so many women not invited back to 16 sororities or the 16 sororities
they want?
Many potential new members spend weeks focusing ONLY on the material aspects of sorority recruitment – what to wear, makeup, hair, the color of their social resume, etc. It seems like the material things help you stand out and get a great score. However, the color of your social resume, a recruitment packet, a Cartier LOVE bracelet, and Golden Goose sneakers will not get a bid. To get a bid to a sorority you love, you have to communicate you are the right fit. You have to communicate BEFORE and DURING sorority recruitment. To know how and when to communicate, you want to use the CRUSH Method to gain Rush Crush Status.
THE CRUSH METHOD:
C
REATE YOUR LIST
RECOGNITION BY THE MEMBERS [MEMBERS KNOW YOUR NAME]
UNLOCK YOUR POTENTIAL
STAND OUT WITH YOUR CONVERSATIONS
HAVE OPTIONS

Step #2. Create Your List

When you picked which colleges to apply to, did you print out a list of all of the colleges in the United States, close your eyes, and point to 5?
Probably not. You most likely sat down and thought about what you wanted in a college experience, looked at colleges that had your major, or researched the different opportunities. It was not random. You thought about it.

The same idea applies to sorority recruitment. Before sorority recruitment starts, you want to sit down and get clear on what your dream sorority looks like, what the members are like, and what is important to you. You want to create your list.

Step #3. Recognition by the Members [the members know your name]: Design a Prepping for Sorority Recruitment Plan

Why do you need a prepping for sorority recruitment plan?

Imagine you are running for President of the United States. On election day, you announce you are running for President by making an Instagram post.

Will you be elected President of the United States?

Probably not. Some have already voted. Those who follow you might not see you are running. Some do not follow you on Instagram. Some have already selected another candidate.

If you want to become the next President, in the months leading up to the election, you have to campaign. People have to know your name and believe in you. The same idea applies to sorority recruitment. Many potential new members wait until Round 1 to get their names out there. If you wait until Round 1, it is TOO LATE. The sororities spend months leading up to sorority recruitment pre-screening potential new members. To have options at Round 2, the members have to know who you are.

Step #5. Stand Out with Your Conversations: Design your Small Talk Plan

Why do the members need to connect to you?

Most of the members are 19 to 21-year-olds. When interviewing potential new members, the members do not care what their majors are, what they did over the summer, or their passions. They look for connections and FRIENDS. They want to have fun! When you form connections, the members can see you in the sorority. If they can see you in their sorority, you stand out, gain Rush Crush status, and get a great score. A great score helps you get invited back to each round.

Step #6. Have Options Throughout Sorority Recruitment [Optimization Plan]
