WHO IS SLOAN?
Sloan is the founder of Getting the Bid.
Here is a little inside to my recruitment experience?
In 2013, I went through recruitment at the University of Georgia. I had no clue what I was getting myself into. I knew nothing about sorority recruitment. My recruitment experience definitely had its ups and downs.
Here is what happened.
Round Three, I thought I found the sorority of my dreams. I was so excited.
The next morning I found out the sorority had dropped me. I was crushed, devastated, and confused. I thought about quitting recruitment. I called my mom and she told me to give the rest of the sororities on my list O N E more chance. Then, I walked into the bathroom and wiped the mascara from under my eyes and gave myself a minute to think. I thought about what I wanted in a sorority.
This new perspective gave me a new outlook on recruitment.
By the end of the day, I realized there was only one sorority for me and it was Alpha Gamma Delta.
I ended up receiving a bid from Alpha Gamma Delta, and I met so many amazing girls. This organization changed my life.
Why did I create Getting the Bid?
I had just graduated from college, and I was thinking about how much sorority recruitment has changed over the years. It has really changed! Sorority members are really looking into each girl who goes through sorority recruitment B E F O R E sorority recruitment starts.
The members are looking at all your social media. They are asking friends about you. They are really trying to see if you could be a good fit.
So I went to google like everyone does, and I was looking to see if there was a place to help girls who are going through recruitment. There was a lot of stuff from like 2012… There was N O T H I N G new. Everything was so blah and very Lilly Pulitzer.
I knew something needed to change. I knew someone had to do it. And I guess it would be… M E .
Getting the Bid is a platform to inspire and serve girls going through recruitment. I don’t want other girls to be confused about the process like I was. I want girls to know how to find their dream sorority.
I want girls to know how to talk to the members, know what to wear, know how to make connections, know how to get REC letters.
My blog, Ready for Recruitment, and The Ultimate Guide to Sorority recruitment will all help you get a bid to your dream sorority.
