Instagram has completely changed the game for sorority recruitment.
Nowadays, sororities are using Instagram to share their chapter to the world. They are showing off what their members are doing.
Some common posts sororities are using include:
Sisters in spotlight
The list goes on.
You are probably looking at these posts and thinking OMG this sorority looks AMAZING. I NEED to join!
That’s the goal.
Sororities are marketing a college experience to you.
Sororities are showing you the good parts of being in a sorority.
Sororities are creating images that make you have FOMO if you don’t join their sorority.
YES, there are a lot of amazing parts of being in a sorority. You are creating memories with some of your best friends.
However, you have to realize the sororities are only showing the good moments. You cannot define a sorority chapter by its Instagram.
WANT TO KNOW 5 WAYS TO STAND OUT FROM ALL THE OTHER POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS?
Every sorority chapter has its ups and its downS.
There are going to be girls who are not paying their sorority dues.
There are going to be girls fighting or girls that just don’t get along.
There are going to be girls dropping out of the sorority.
There are going to be girls stressed out trying to plan events.
You cannot look at these Instagram accounts and think these girls are living the perfect life. You have to understand they too have problems.
These images the sororities create are different than the actual sorority.
We like to think that the grass is always greener on the other side, but sometimes it is not.
When you are looking at these Instagram accounts, know these girls are having fun and know that each sorority has its struggles.
AND this tip is why...
You have to meet the sorority members.
You have to make connections.
You have to put in the time and impress the sorority members.
You have to find out who the sorority really is.
Then, you can make your decision on where you want to spend your next four year. This process is how you find your dream sorority.
Sadly, you don’t find your dream sorority on Instagram.
