SLOAN HELPS YOU GET A BID TO YOUR DREAM SORORITY THROUGH AN ONLINE COACHING

I have talked to members all over the country about sorority recruitment. One question I always ask is, “Why do you drop potential new members?” You are probably wondering what the #1 response is, right?

The #1 thing that gets potential new members dropped is

THEY DO NOT STAND OUT!

It is easy to get caught up in the material side of sorority recruitment. It seems like a Gucci belt, Golden Goose sneakers, and a Cartier LOVE bracelet will get the members’ attention. Those items do not get bids. When the members are voting on potential new members, they have to give each potential new member a score.

What is the score based on?

It is based on you standing out from the other potential new members. To stand out, you need to use a plan to communicate that you are the right fit.

Here is your plan

How do you play the game? How do you optimize sorority recruitment?

Step #1. Decide what your dream sorority looks like

Why is this exercise important?

This exercise is important because it starts your strategy for sorority recruitment. Your dream sorority is the end goal. Now, you want to work backward. What steps do you need to take to stand out before and during sorority recruitment?

Step #2. campaign for yourself

Everyone is not placed on an equal playing field for Round 1. The sororities are pre-screening potential new members — looking at GPA, Instagram, etc. Most of the sororities will have to drop a percentage of potential new members after Round 1. This percentage is different for each sorority. The most competitive sororities drop the largest percentage (typically 70% of the potential new members).

Why is campaigning important?

Imagine you want to run for President of the United States. Here is the catch you announce that you are running the day of the election. Do you think you will get elected?

Probably not.

The same idea applies to sorority recruitment. You have to get your name out there before sorority recruitment starts. You want members and the recruitment team to know your name.

How do you do it?

Since the sororities are vetting potential new members before sorority recruitment starts, you need to get on the sororities ’ radar. You have to get your name out there.

Here is where your first strategy comes into play. You want to use a prepping for sorority recruitment strategy. Your prepping strategy should answer, “What actions do I need to take for members to know my name?”

Step #3. stand out with your conversations

Once you get to Round 2, you are placed on a much more even playing field. To get invited back, you need to stand out with your conversations. Most potential new members wing their conversations and get stuck in the average conversation cycle.

Here is an example of the average conversations cycle

Member: Where are you from?

Potential new member: Atlanta

Member: What did you do over break?

Potential new member: Hung out with friends and my family

How do you break the cycle and stand out?

You use a small talk strategy. This strategy will have the members saying, “Wow! I want this potential new member in my sorority! I want to hang out with her on the weekend and be her friend!” If a member is saying this behind the scenes, you are getting an above-average score. Imagine if you are getting above-average scores for most of the sororities. When you get your invitation schedule, how excited are you going to be to see your favorite sorority invite you back? You are going to be ecstatic.

How are you going to walk into each sorority knowing you have options?

You are going to have your shoulders back and continue to connect with the members.

Step #4. play the game

Now that you have options, you can find the BEST sorority for you.

THESE WOMEN GOT BIDS, AND SO CAN YOU!

“I was so nervous going into sorority recruitment, especially going to a school with a competitive greek system. I knew very little about Greek life and I had absolutely no idea what to expect! Sloan's program taught me basically everything I needed to know and allowed me to have a successful recruitment experience. Before going through the program, I had no idea how to excel at small talk, the correct mindset I needed to have, the social media strategy, etc. and afterward, I seriously felt like such a pro! I felt extremely confident walking into sorority recruitment and I had very little nerves at all because Sloan prepared me for everything! Without the help of Sloan and this program, I do not think I would've ended up in my dream sorority and I cannot recommend this program enough!! Sloan is absolutely incredible and will help you receive a bid to your dream sorority!” — Gracie

“I went through recruitment at a large SEC school my freshman year of college. To say that it went poorly would be an understatement. I was sad, rejected, and had no plans to go through recruitment again. But, I ended up transferring schools and after a lot of encouragement from friends, I decided to go through recruitment again. After going through Sloan’s program I finally saw and understood how recruitment works, what I did wrong the first time, and had a strategy in place to try again. Even in the midst of a pandemic, Sloan gave me strategies that worked and prepared me for virtual sorority recruitment. After going through recruitment my sophomore year I was kept by all of my top sororities and essentially got to choose which sorority I wanted. I am happy to say that I am now a member of Alpha Delta Pi. Thank you, Sloan!” — Emma

“Going through CRUSH helped me so much while prepping and going through the whole recruitment process. Before CRUSH, I had no idea how rush worked and how I could stand out as a PNM [potential new member].  Thankfully Sloan worked with me and taught me the skills I needed to get into my top house! I’m beyond excited and I can’t recommend this program enough!” — Abby

“I came across Getting the Bid when I was preparing to go through recruitment and I can honestly say I am so happy I found Sloan! I love the sorority I joined and I am sure going through the process without her wouldn’t have been the same. Getting the Bid not only helped me get into the sorority of my dreams, but it taught me amazing small talk skills, helped me change my mindset about the process and overall made me so much more confident! I felt so prepared and comfortable going into recruitment, and having Sloan be there for me every step of the way made it so much easier and less stressful. I honestly recommend the program to anyone that is thinking about or wants to go through sorority recruitment, you will learn skills that are not only for recruitment but for the rest of your life.” —Clarissa

“Sloan helped me a lot in building my confidence for rush! The way she walked me through how to effectively create small talk helped me really connect with the members of each sorority as I went through rush. I knew what questions to ask to open conversation, and in the end, this is what helped me find the sorority that was right for me.” — Madison

“I truly can't describe how much Sloan and the program helped me handle sorority recruitment and eventually get a bid to my top sorority! I felt so prepared going into recruitment, and I knew exactly what I wanted from my future sorority experience thanks to the videos and journal prompts. I really don't think I would've had such a positive experience if it wasn't for Sloan!” — Allie

“Sloan was such a big help to my recruitment process! Whenever I needed her she was just a phone call or text away. Even when things switched I’m up on me at the last minute she totally helped me keep my cool and have a super easy transition!!” — Dylan

“Sloan was incredibly helpful throughout the entire recruitment process! Her advice/strategies and constant support have proven to be extremely valuable, and it is clear that she truly wants what is best for each individual client!” — Hannah

“Before joining I had no idea how to prepare for sorority rush. I didn’t know what to talk about, how to get rec letters, or how to present myself. CRUSH gave me all the tools I needed to go into recruitment fully prepared and confident.” — Sophie

“My recruitment journey was not an easy one or a normal one. I had gone through recruitment as a freshman and I did not find my home, I tried to COB and that didn't work so I began to feel hopeless. Then I found this program and Sloan and things started to look up. The experience I had in CRUSH was amazing and I finally started to feel like I had control of my recruitment experience. I felt more prepared going in, I felt like I understood the process more, and overall better mindset for the week. After going through this program I had a completely different outlook on sorority recruitment regardless of end result!” — Jessie

“Sloan was amazing!! Coming into CRUSH, I knew nothing about rush or how to even get into a sorority! However, I learned so much from her from just one summer, and every single day of recruitment/rush I received encouragement from her through all the highs and lows. Honestly, I’m sad that CRUSH is over because Sloan was genuinely such an amazing person and coach throughout the entire process. If you want to get into a sorority you love, feel confident during rush (and even everyday small talk!), I definitely recommend joining CRUSH!” —Emily

“Sloan is the absolute best! She brought out the best of all of us so that we can present our best selves to sororities during recruitment. We worked on mastering small talk and relating to the sorority members to have great, memorable conversations. I was invited back by all of my top sororities throughout recruitment and really believe the skills I developed from Getting the Bid led me to that. Sloan helped me present my best self to the members!” — Caroline

“Sloan helped me so so much by teaching me all the steps and “how” to become a rush crush. She answered every question I had and guided me through the virtual process this year.” — Kendall

“Going into sorority recruitment I was terrified. The idea of attending an out-of-state school and going through this process paralyzed me with fear. But, with the help of Sloan and the program, I was able to gain the confidence to walk into recruitment with the absolute certainty that I was going to join my dream sorority. Sloan’s constant guidance and support during recruitment week made it possible for me to find my home away from home, and I couldn’t be happier.” — Maren

“I don’t know what I would have done without Sloan! For as long as I could remember I’ve known that I wanted to be in a sorority, but ever since I was a kid I’ve viewed myself as shy and awkward and was so nervous to go through recruitment. All of the meetings helped my confidence as much as they helped my conversation skills if not more. Because of Getting the Bid I went into rush feeling prepared and excited. Throughout the week, Sloan was always checking up on me and giving me tips which eased my fears every day. When I was faced with a hard decision, I called Sloan and she walked me through it! I had a great recruitment and got a bid to the house of my dreams all thanks to Sloan! I could not be more thankful and would recommend her to anyone going through recruitment!” — Allison

“This program truly helped me feel more confident in myself and helped me grow as a person. I know that the skills I learned in this program will not only help me for recruitment, but also help me with interviews and other important social events in my future.” — Lauren

SLOAN IS YOUR GUIDE TO SORORITY RECRUITMENT

In 2013, Sloan went through sorority recruitment at the University of Georgia.

In 2017, a friend of a friend was going through sorority recruitment at the University of Georgia. This potential new member was an out-of-state student.

On Pref, the potential new member texted Sloan and said, "I only had one option left. I am dropping out of sorority recruitment." Sloan was shocked that the sororities did not see how INCREDIBLE this potential new member was.

Over the next couple of weeks, Sloan had more and more questions about the advice given to women going through sorority recruitment. She started to research topics on Google and Youtube. It was all the same as the advice she gave. She realized it was time for things to change. The women going through sorority recruitment deserved to know what was actually going on with sorority recruitment – how women got invited back, how much a recommendation letter matters (or does not matter), how to create a social resume, etc. She started interviewing sorority members from all over the country. She asked them about their sorority recruitment experience, what made a woman stand out, and why they gave bids to some women. Over the past four years, she has compiled her research and worked directly with women going through sorority recruitment. Her blog, book, and program are designed to help you receive your bid and give insight into how to stand out. It is time to break the glass ceiling and give you an equal opportunity to get a bid to a sorority you like. You deserve to have options during sorority recruitment. You deserve to stand out. You deserve to run home to your dream sorority.
