Recruitment packets are additional information an alumni member sends to the sorority. This information helps the sorority get to know you better.
DO YOU NEED A RECRUITMENT PACKET?
Not all colleges accept these packets.
I recommend looking at your Panhellenic website to see if you need one.
Most Texas colleges encourage you to send a recruitment packet, REC letter, and LOS (letter of support) to each sorority.
What to include in the recruitment packet?
There are several items you need to include in your recruitment packet.
A copy of your social resume -- Read all about social resumes HERE.
A cover letter -- this item is optional but highly recommended -- Read all about cover letters for sorority recruitment HERE. *** the cover letter is only for the women who is writing your REC letter; she will not send this to the sororities. ***
A copy of your ACT/ SAT scores
A copy of your high school transcript
A picture of yourself
A pre-addressed envelope to the sorority with a stamp OR information on how to send in the information via email
Put all of these items in a folder.
HOW DO YOU GET IT TO THE SORORITIES?
The woman who writes your REC letter will send the sorority this folder. You will not have any contact with the sororities until recruitment.
Make sure you tell the woman who is writing your REC letter she needs to send all the necessary documents. You should include these instructions in your cover letter.

When to send out recruitment packets?
Every time someone is willing to write you a recommendation letter, you will need to send out a recruitment packet.
I recommend sending out your packet as soon as possible. This way your information can get to the sorority house before the cutoff date.
The cutoff date for recommendation letters should be listed on your Panhellenic website for your college.
How many recruitment packets do you need to make?
You need a recruitment packet for each recommendation letter you get.
It has all the same documents; you need to send each woman a recruitment packet.
Try and get a recommendation letter for each sorority on your college campus.
Here is an example. Let's say there are 10 Panhellenic sororities on your campus. You get a recommendation letter to all 10 sororities so you will send out 10 recruitment packets.
Again, I want to reiterate NOT ALL COLLEGES ACCEPT RECRUITMENT PACKETS!
You need to look at your college’s Panhellenic website and see if they are recommended.
Let me know if you have any questions about recruitment packets!
