What all goes into sorority recruitment?

It can seem easy. You talk to some of the members. The members will vote on you. You will vote on the members. Then, you get a bid.

Sounds easy enough, right?

B U T… it’s not that easy.

A lot goes into sorority recruitment. Like creating a social resume, getting recommendation letters, knowing how to small talk, picking out your outfits, knowing how to stay positive, etc.

STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD DURING SORORITY RECRUITMENT

STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD DURING SORORITY RECRUITMENT

Standing out from the crowd can be hard during sorority recruitment.

Why?

All the potential new members are letting the sorority members run the conversations.

It’s okay to let them run the conversation. The members will have a list of questions for you to answer. They will try and form a connection with you... but it will be hard to stand out. Like really hard.

Why?

Everyone is talking about the same thing. How are the members going to know to invite you back when they just had the exact conversation with 20 other girls?

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORMAL AND INFORMAL SORORITY RECRUITMENT?

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORMAL AND INFORMAL SORORITY RECRUITMENT?

What’s the difference between formal and informal sorority recruitment?

Where do I even start? There’s so much that goes into each one!

B U T… here are the basics. Formal recruitment is much larger and more competitive process. More girls go through formal recruitment.

Why?

It’s simple. They are able to meet all the sororities. They are able to have the experience you see in the movies. They get dressed up. They go through rounds and rounds of small talk. Then, they get to Pref and make their final decision. After hours of work, they run home to their new sorority and meet all their sisters.

Formal recruitment is great. However, it’s not the right fit for everyone.
